What is unbroken OM chanting?
In the ancient yogic tradition, this is known as Akhanda Japa. Instead of a group chanting together, stopping, and starting in unison, the sound becomes a continuous, seamless wave as people chant in their own time. We will have anchors: volunteers that will take turns to chant and ensure that the sound is never broken even when people are arriving or leaving.
The potential benefits
The prolonged, buzzing exhalation required to chant OM directly stimulates the vagus nerve in the throat, which can lead to a parasympathetic shift, lowering levels of stress, anxiety and restlessness
Scientific studies show that the humming sound of chanting increases the body's natural production of nitric oxide by up to 15 times. This dilates blood vessels, increases oxygenation, and aids deep relaxation.
